Description: Delineating the boundary involved extracting 45 NOAA NGS points out of the NGS data for Ohio, and 3 NOAA NGS points were extracted out of the NGS data for Pennsylvania. These 45 NGS points for Ohio fell along the MI/OH boundary and were used to connect the IN/OH boundary East to the Lake Erie Shoreline. The Lake Erie Shoreline was created using the visible coast in 2017 by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The ODNR digitized the shore at 1:1500-scale as it appeared in the imagery at that time.3 NGS points extracted out of Pennsylvania were then used to connect from the Lake Erie Shoreline Southward to the West Virginia Boundary establishing the OH/PA boundary. The WV/OH boundary was established by using existing ODNR and ODOT datasets.The Official KY/OH boundary line is an established series of coordinate. This dataset adheres to these boundaries in accordance to the U.S. Supreme Court decision(OHIO v. KENTUCKY, 471 US 153 [1985]).Ohio-Kentucky Boundary Coordinates | Ohio Department of Natural Resources - GIS Open Data Portal.While every effort was made to obtain and utilize the best available data possible, there are some data limitations that have to be considered, which require edge matching of the data for completeness. This was achieved by augmenting the data with hand digitizing where small missing segments were found.This dataset contains 88 records, one for each county. Some counties are made up of many separated polygons, typically islands. These have been created as multi-part features.Feature Service updated on 6/23/2025 to include U.S. Census decennial population estimates for 2000. 2010, 2020 and population estimates for 2024.
